Remembrance Day Service 2025, Youth Chapel

Ruislip Beavers and Cubs Remembrance Day Service

This year 2nd/9th Ruislip Scout Group had the privilege of leading the Remembrance Day Service in the Ruislip Woods Youth Chapel in Mad Bess Woods.

The work to prepare the chapel had started a couple of weeks before - the grass needed cutting (it was full of tree saplings), the hedges needed trimming and reducing in height, and a general tidy up was required.

Operation Scramble!

The Cub Pack had an exciting adventure weekend with a sleepover at 1st/3rd Scouts HQ in Ruislip!

Bentley Priory Museum

After making their own packed lunches (how much ham can you fit in one sandwich?), the Cubs set off in the minibus to Bentley Priory Museum in Stanmore.

Our Cub pack enjoyed a trip to Ruislip Fire Station where Darren and his colleagues showed them all around the engines and the fire station.

The each got to use the fire hose. One of our Scouts is helping one of the Cubs - he is a Young Leader and is taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award.

Chilly Goat 2025

IT WAS COLD!

The weather for the 20th Chilly Goat Challenge was perfect! Cold and dry!

2nd/9th Ruislip Scouts arrived at Phasels Wood with the other troops on the Friday night, and pitched their tents in the dark

The nights were very cold - the air temperature was about minus 7 degrees Celsius. In the mornings the Scouts had icicles on the inside of their tents where the moisture from their breath had condensed on the tent material and frozen as they slept!

Harrow Christmas Adventure 2024

2nd/9th Ruislip joined 4th Harrow Scouts on a Christmas adventure with two nights at their HQ and a day in London.

Post Office Museum

The Scouts took the London Underground to the Postal Museum. They looked at all the exhibitions and learned about the history of the postal service.

Across the road they visited the Mail Rail that used to be used to deliver mail across London on a special underground railway.
