Ruislip Beavers and Cubs Remembrance Day Service
This year 2nd/9th Ruislip Scout Group had the privilege of leading the Remembrance Day Service in the Ruislip Woods Youth Chapel in Mad Bess Woods.
The work to prepare the chapel had started a couple of weeks before - the grass needed cutting (it was full of tree saplings), the hedges needed trimming and reducing in height, and a general tidy up was required.

Volunteers from the Group Trustees Committee, leaders, parents and some of our young members worked really hard to bring it back to the condition it should be in.

We had Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs from 12th Ruislip, 1st/3rd Ruislip and Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from 2nd/9th Ruislip, plus their families and friends as well as Scout family from other groups and districts.
Everyone from 2nd/9th Ruislip took part in the service - reading readings and poems, telling stories of the Scout camp in Ypres in 2024 and about the history of the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate. We even had one Scout play the Last Post and Rouse to mark the start and end of the two minutes silence on his trumpet. Another undertook to create the order of service pamphlet, including an online version that you can access here.
We took this picture at the end - unfortunately some of our brilliant young people had already left when we remembered to take the photo!
